Leadership in Youthwork 101 was an Erasmus+ Training Course implemented in Snina, Slovakia between 26 June and 4 July 2026. The project brought together youth workers from 9 European countries: Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Czech Republic, Serbia, Lithuania, Italy, Greece and Spain, with the aim of strengthening their leadership capacity and supporting them in becoming more effective youth workers and community leaders. Throughout the mobility, participants developed practical competences in leadership, strategic thinking, decision-making, team motivation and crisis management through non-formal education methods.

The programme combined interactive workshops, simulations, outdoor learning and peer-to-peer exchange to create a dynamic learning environment where participants collaborated in international teams, shared experiences and learned from each other’s good practices. They also prepared presentations about their organizations, explored different approaches to youth work and strengthened their intercultural competences through cultural evenings that celebrated the traditions and diversity of the participating countries.

One of the highlights of the training course was a two-day outdoor adventure that included a 25-kilometre hike and an overnight stay in tents. This experience challenged participants to step outside their comfort zones while improving their teamwork, resilience, communication and problem-solving skills in a real-life setting. By combining experiential learning with practical leadership exercises, the project enabled participants to build confidence and acquire skills that can be directly transferred to their daily work with young people.

The impact of the project continued after the mobility ended. Each participant committed to implementing a Community Leadership Action Plan within their organization, organizing at least one local dissemination activity and sharing the project’s digital toolkit with youth work networks in their communities. These follow-up actions ensured that the knowledge, methods and inspiration gained during the training course reached many more young people and contributed to strengthening the quality of youth work across the participating countries.
