BACK to Participation

Between 7 and 16 July 2026, Together Romania participated in the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange NOURISH – Nurturing Our Understanding of Resilience, Interconnection, Sustainability & Health, hosted in Alpignano (Turin), Italy. Our organisation was represented by six young participants, who joined young people from several European countries in an international learning experience dedicated to healthy lifestyles, sustainability and personal development.

NOURISH was created from the idea that human health and the health of our planet are deeply interconnected. The project combined the principles of Lifestyle Medicine and Planetary Health, encouraging young people to better understand how everyday choices regarding nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being, social relationships and environmental responsibility contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future.

Using non-formal education methods, participants explored the six pillars of lifestyle medicine: healthy nutrition, physical activity, stress management, restorative sleep, positive social connections and the avoidance of risky substances. Throughout the exchange, these themes were approached through interactive workshops, outdoor activities, intercultural learning, cooking sessions, sports, mindfulness practices, creative expression and group reflection.

The programme followed the learning journey Connect – Disconnect – Reconnect. During the first days, participants connected with themselves, each other, and the local community through team-building activities, intercultural exchange, movement and food-related workshops. The second phase encouraged participants to disconnect from unhealthy habits, particularly excessive digital use, while exploring mindfulness, self-awareness, relaxation and healthy coping strategies. Finally, participants reconnected with their communities and the environment by developing ideas for future dissemination activities and promoting sustainable habits that can be transferred into everyday life.

Beyond developing practical knowledge about health and sustainability, the project strengthened participants’ intercultural competences, teamwork, communication skills, initiative and active citizenship. Living and learning together with peers from different countries also fostered mutual understanding, solidarity, and respect for cultural diversity.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to YOUth Connect for the excellent organisation, warm hospitality, and inspiring learning environment that made this Erasmus+ mobility a truly valuable experience for all participants.
