Promoting European Citizenship through media, Albania 2009

Between 24-30 November 2009 three members of “Together Romania” association participated at the training course “Promoting European Citizenship through Media”. The TC took place in Durres, the second largest city in Albania and it was organized by the association “Youth4Society”. Each of the participant countries had three representatives: Turkey, Albania, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, UK and Germany.

The training started with an intercultural evening, where everyone presented its country, bringing specific food, drinks and pictures.

During the course, the young participants were given the opportunity to find out many interesting things about the European culture, about what the European Union is about; all activities being organized in a non-formal way. The last part of the TC was dedicated to ways of promoting EU activities, such as: online website, blogs, Saltillo, the Compass etc. and in the end the participants had to compose the first page of a newspaper.  All the activities were done in groups of 3-4 people, in this way everyone having the chance to be active involved.

The youngsters had one afternoon’s time to spend in Tirana, the capital city, where they bought many souvenirs for their friends back home and they also could visit the main tourists’ attractions.

The training course proved to be very useful for the Romanian participants not only because of the cultural exchange experience, but also because they were taught about various ways of promoting the activities of their own organization. The TC resulted in many beautiful friendships between the participants.
