„Youth and sustainable development project”, Jordan 2008
Between 5 and 12 November 2008, two members of the association and one of its vice-presidents, Remus Iacobescu, participated to the project “Youth and sustainable development”, where they discussed problems related to the environment protection. The project was organized by Al-Hayat Center for Civil Society Development and it took place in Jerash-Amman, Jordan. 7 countries participated to the event: Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Holland, Latvia, Greece and Romania.
The youngsters had the opportunity to participate to open debates and to meet different officialdom invited to the programme, to meet the inhabitants, to visit the surroundings and also to taste the traditional food served at Kofranjeh municipality. The organizers, the restaurant’s manager, together with the guests prepared the show and the food especially for the youngsters, making those feel like home.
The participants were positively impressed not only by the project’s activities, structured to develop their abilities, but also by the way the locals treated the subject, showing both friendship and hospitality.
The meeting proved to be successful, as all the programme’s stages were completed and the activities were ingeniously combined. The participants managed to change information and to search for solutions regarding the problems put forward, real problems in their countries. By this way, they came with new ideas about how to save the environment.
The project ended with an international cultural night, where the participants presented their countries, traditional food and dances to the guests specially invited to this event.
