“Culture is in the air”, Macedonia 2009
Between February 25th and March 4th, 5 members of our association took part in the project “Culture is in the air”, where they explored themes like paganism, folklore and traditional dance. This project was arranged by CREACTIVE organization and took place in Vinica, Macedonia. It gathered participants from 6 countries: Italy, Macedonia, Hungary, Croatia, Albania and Romania.
The youngsters had the opportunity to represent their countries, to get in touch with the locals, to visit the neighboring areas and to taste the Macedonian traditional dishes, served in Vinica. The project’s aim was to allow the participants to learn a song and a dance characteristic to every participant country and to make costumes and masks for the Strumica Carnival.
The project was a successful one, as the entire programme’s tasks were accomplished. The climax was the Strumica’s Carnival, where the youngsters wore the costumes and masks made by them, presented the songs and the dances practiced along those 8 days.
