Green Skills, Erasmus+ Youth exchange

Between May 10 and 18, 2025, the village of Trăisteni in Prahova County hosted the international project “Green Skills – Green Competences for European Youth,” organized by Together Romania Association and funded through the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme (reference number 2024-1-RO01-KA151-YOU-000205995).

Over the course of nine days, 26 young people from Romania, France, Spain, Slovakia, and Poland took part in an intensive educational experience aimed at developing their green skills and empowering them to become agents of change in their communities.

The project activities took place in a non-formal setting and included practical workshops on creative recycling, reducing consumption, reusing materials, and promoting a sustainable lifestyle. Participants explored concrete ways they can contribute to environmental protection in their daily lives, within a collaborative and international context. Additionally, they had the opportunity to create useful items from recycled materials, experiment with interactive educational methods, and express their creativity in pursuit of a common goal: a greener future.

The community dimension of the project was particularly strong. The young participants organized educational sessions in two local educational institutions – the Forest Technical College in Câmpina and the Trăisteni Secondary School – where they interacted with students and promoted eco-friendly behaviors through games, presentations, and hands-on activities. They shared good practices from their home countries and encouraged the exchange of ideas about what it means to care for nature in the 21st century.

A special highlight of the mobility was the visit to Ateliere Fără Frontiere in Bucharest, a valuable example of circular economy and social inclusion. Participants learned how IT equipment can be refurbished and reused in schools or other organizations, thus reducing electronic waste and offering opportunities to people in vulnerable situations. This experience gave them a tangible perspective on how sustainable initiatives can have real impact in society.

The connection with nature was further nurtured through hikes and outdoor activities, during which participants reflected on their personal relationship with the environment. Reflection sessions, meditation, and group discussions complemented the learning process and encouraged a deeper understanding of individual responsibility in the face of the climate crisis.

The Green Skills project was not only an exchange of experiences but also a powerful opportunity for personal, social, and professional development. Participants were encouraged to plan green initiatives to implement in their home countries, becoming sustainability ambassadors in their local communities.

One of the main results were the Green skills – for home and a short video presentation of the project.

Together Romania Association, founded in 2005 and Erasmus+ accredited for youth activities, continues through this project its mission to create inclusive, safe, and motivating learning spaces where young people can learn from one another, collaborate, and build solutions to today’s challenges together.
