Active Citizens of Tomorrow – ACT

With this project we want to bring together young people from different minority backgrounds with aim of supporting new forms of participation and active citizenship of minority youth by increasing their leadership competencies.

Banner 50x200During this 5 months project (November 2015 – April 2016), we wanted to bring 80 youngsters from Campina and from the surroundings, together in a commune activities and through them to motivate other youngsters to become leaders and active citizenship; the activism of youngsters was the main tool to make 5 different training sessions about leadership / active citizenship and 3 campaigns about rights and duties as European citizenship, social exclusion and domestic violence.

Finally, we have pointed out that the role of youth is a key point to conflict resolution and can greatly contribute to preventing conflicts. Freedom of speech and ideas exchanges allow young people to shorten the gap between them and help to overcome their and community needs.

The aim was to provide 80 participants with tools to develop their leadership skills by the specific activities lead by 2 trainers; boost them with skills and knowledge to act as multipliers and share their knowledge, information and experience in local community. The developed skills were used latter by the youngsters in 3 public campaigns (rights and duties as European citizenship, social exclusion and domestic violence) and after the project the youngsters will lead activities in the local youth center and will be support stuff (facilitators, youth leaders, coordinators) in other youth projects so they can practice what they have learned.

Objectives:

– to develop together with the trainers and with participants one training manual focused on leadership and activism that can be used in future in similar projects/trainings. The manual is available online in English on the project’s website

– to increase the youth activism in each local community and to form youth leaders in order to develop their own projects based on local needs and local development

– the association to be more visible in the local communities and its activities, to open other youth centers in other villages

– to make the community more aware of their rights and duties, to be more open mind and tolerant, to fight against domestic violence.
