Leadership Education and Action Development for youth – LEAD,

Campina 2022

In every community we can find local individuals who are willing and able to assume some responsibility for community betterment by being “out front” to ignite and facilitate action represent the community’s interests and play the role of protecting them. As a community, Campina is a small town, infamously known for high unemployment rates, as known as brain drain, social and cultural limitations of leading an established life, educational limitations due to the fact that everyone want to study in a bigger town or city, and a high level of demotivation a overall pessimistic approach of general public.LEAD EYF 2022 poster

By this 5 months project, we wanted to identify local leaders who can act like community leaders. The need to encourage young leaders is very high – proactive approach and the willingness to change things around and take matters into their own hands is a rare sight to witness. We need more young leaders to think and act upon the notion that life around here is not as bad as it seems to be, to have more faith and be optimistic about it, to not leave the country and that together we can make things better. This is something that is needed by other communities and regions not only here, but all around the world. In a 5 days seminar we provided them all the necessary competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) in order to build community leadership. All activities were free of charge.

The aim of the LEAD project was to help young people to develop the skills and abilities they need to become successful adults and active citizens by engaging them in addressing community needs and to promote community leadership to social change and community improvement among youngsters from 18 to 30 years old. Development of leadership and mentoring within the context of youth will shed more light on this specific area of research from theoretical and practical perspective. “Agents of change” can share their knowledge and experiences about the way they operate to inspire others to mimic their actions. Hopefully our materials will be an inspiration to various groups in which interests are empowering youth sector and leading towards betterment of their communities.
