„Show me your culture!” – youth exchange, Câmpina 2009
The traditions and the culture of a nation makes it unique and offers an identity. Youngsters from many countries presented their tradition, learned from each other that they are different but in the same time equal. All these within the project entitled „Show me your culture!”, a youth exchange organized by Together Romania Association in Campina, in the period 9-16th of September. Thus, 25 youngsters from Italy, Turkey, Romania, Lithuania and Slovenia participated during 7 days at a marathon of cultures from the participant countries within 3 workshops: music, costumes design and dance, in order to present at the end of this period, within a show organized for the local community, an unique show (5 cultures in one show, traditional costumes made by the participants from the 5 countries, live music, traditional dances, multicultural choreography, etc.). We proposed to promote the cultural diversity through this project, and thus to awaken among youngsters the interest for the national tradition and for other traditions, also promoting tolerance, accepting differences, getting along and living in an united Europe.
The show took place on Tuesday, 15th of September 2009, 16:00 at Casa Tineretului, room 103, having as guests a considerable number of enthusiast spectators of all ages, other ONG-s representatives, City Hall and mass – media.
The project has been sustained by the European Commission through the program „Youth in Action”. Community
program which ensured a legal frame for sustaining activities of informal learning for youngsters. Through the objectives of the program is counted promoting an active citizenship among youngsters, developing the tolerance and solidarity feelings, sustaining the activities with youngsters and the capacity of the youngsters organizations as well as promoting the European cooperation within the youth domain.
